This post is part of a series outlining the basics of each seasonal color palette. If you’re looking to become acquainted with the palettes, this is a good place to start.

Common Presentations of Bright Winter

Bright Winter, like all seasons, has a huge range in terms of what they can look like. These Bright Winter celebrity examples are merely a guess, since we can’t know what they would look like in real life with every season tried following proper methodology, however in photos they resemble exemplars I have personally seen. Please keep in mind that any season can present with any hair, skin and eye color.

Bright Winter Hair Colors: These can range from medium ash blonde to black. Hair here can be, but as often isn’t particularly dark in appearance. The average natural color is probably a medium brunette. Members of the season who are truly blonde as an adult are less common, however those who were towheaded as a child and have maintained a blonde look via highlights as their base has darkened are seen frequently. Red hair can occur in any season, but is especially common in the bright seasons, as red is the brighter of the two pigments that naturally give hair it’s color.

Bright Winter Eye Colors: Brown, green and blue eyes all occur frequently in this season. Brown eyes may be fully brown with a slight red or yellow tinge or they may be lighter with a mix of several colors. Blue eyes can be very cool in appearance, or often have a slight green cast. Green eyes may have a very distinctive cool tone, though those with brown at the center and a more common overall color are also seen. The latter can create a false impression of warmth or Autumn influence in the person. Eye whites can be extremely bright, giving the impression of high contrast especially in darker eyes.

Bright Winter Skin tones: Bright Winter skin tones range from the fairest to the deepest, in almost equal amounts, with fair to medium being perhaps a bit more common. Olive or yellow tones occur often in the skin and may be mistaken for warmer seasons. Those who appear lighter may be taken for spring or summer blends, as the person does not always present as either particularly dark nor particularly contrasted in initial impression. Conversely, many members exist with dark brown or black hair and dark eyes with medium to deep skin and may be mistaken for a darker season.

Bright Winter’s predominant color quality is brightness. This doesn’t mean that they must wear only very colorful looks, or that their colors are overbearingly neon, but simply that of all seasons excluding Bright spring, this coloring has the least tolerance for softness in color.

In addition to being bright, Bright Winter is also medium dark. They can balance both lighter and darker colors, and suit a high level of contrast, but overall their best colors do tend towards darkness.

Finally, Bright Winter colors are cool-neutral. Those with bright winter coloring can wear a range of colors where some choices will be warmer and others cooler, however overall the suit colors that lean towards coolness while avoiding only the most extremely cool shades.
