This post is part of a series outlining the basics of each seasonal color palette. If you’re looking to become acquainted with the palettes, this is a good place to start.
Common Presentations of True Summer
True Summer, like all seasons, has a huge range in terms of what they can look like. These True Summer celebrity examples are merely a guess, since we can’t know what they would look like in real life with every season tried following proper methodology, however in photos they resemble exemplars I have personally seen. Please keep in mind that any season can present with any hair, skin and eye color.
True Summer Hair Colors: These can range from shades of pale blonde to shades of medium-dark brown. The average natural color is probably medium brown, which may, but may also not, appear obviously cool or ash in tone. Darker hair can create the appearance of a darker season due to contrast with the skin.
True Summer Eye Colors: Blue eyes are seen most frequently in people with this coloring, very often in shades of true blue, blue-grey or blue-green. Green eyes are also common and tend to have a blue cast. Brown eyes are uncommon.
True Summer Skin tones: Like hair and eyes, True Summer skin tones range from the fairest to medium-tan, but are most commonly light. Very fair tones may have high contrast with brown hair, giving the false impression on a winter person, while deeper skin tones can give the impression of a warmer person.
True Summer Color Dimensions
True Summer’s predominant color quality is coolness. This doesn’t mean that they must wear only cool shades like blue and purple, or that they don’t have a range of warmer and cooler choices within a hue (i.e. warmer and cooler pinks) but simply that of all of the palettes other than True Winter, True Summer people have the least tolerance for warmth in color.
In addition to being light, True Summer is also moderately soft. They can balance a range of softer or brighter colors, but overall their best colors are moderate and leaning slightly towards softness.
Finally, Light Summer colors are medium-light. Members of this season suit a range of lighter and darker colors, but overall their best shades lean slightly towards lightness.
