I am at a point in my career/life when I'm looking for a wardrobe change, and wanted some professional advice on both color analysis and body line analysis before shopping again. TL;DR - she was thorough, thoughtful, and helped me find colors I never expected that made my skin tone come alive... (with clothing and makeup/accessories). I feel so much more confident shopping with the principles she taught me and I'm so, so glad to have benefitted from her expertise!Longer review:During our initial consultation call, Rachel answered my questions very thoughtfully and technically, including how different systems of color analysis apply to darker skin tones. Our in-person appointment began with the theory/overview of her process which, as a STEM person, I appreciated. Then - the fun part! As we draped, she was careful to point out what different effects she noted with each different color; her goal was to teach me a foundation of visual analysis so I could apply the information on my own to shopping, dressing, and closet-clearing.It was also so revealing - in the studio's controlled setting, the difference between drapes was often dramatic. I had a visceral reaction to some colors; it helped me understand why some clothes I thought "should" work always felt like a drag (a few made me look literally ill), while others helped me feel/look alive. I ended up as a season I'd never guess, and looked vibrant in colors I have never picked up in a store (looking at you, lime green!).Her body line analysis was similarly thorough. Some parts of my style already leaned towards what she recommended; however, having a clear vision of the lines/tailoring will help me build a more timeless wardrobe (rather than chasing trends) and has already helped me clear out "kindof right" clothes I'd been forcing.Finally, the consultation included recommendations for makeup and hair that I've found incredibly useful. I don't think I would have ever intuited which shades ultimately worked for me and it took seeing how "right" they looked in the studio to go for some of the bolder options. I had been looking at color analysis online for the past 10 years or so, and had hesitatingly settled on Soft Summer for myself, thinking that my hair was ashy brown and my eyes a hazel-y blue. I wasn’t sure of my self-diagnosis, except for definitely ruling out any Bright Season. I finally decided to get my colors professionally analyzed with... Rachel, who was wonderful to work with. She patiently answered all my questions and explained every part of the process with me in detail. She took her time to make sure I understood what was going on and what I was looking at. It really took her professional eye to see the physical effects of each color on my own face and it turns out — I am in fact a Bright Winter. I was uncertain at first, not sure I could “handle” such colors, but I trusted Rachel and, using the color fan she gave me and her tips on how to harmonize fabrics with it in person, bought myself a few starter items from the thrift store. Even walking out with my new colors felt scary, like I was making a mistake or like everyone was looking at me like I was crazy! But everyone in my life has commented on how incredible I look, and my husband and children appreciate it most of all. Not only has my appearance shifted, but my own perception of myself has evolved as well. I am no longer holding myself back or trying to hide; it is as if embracing my colors has unlocked a whole new facet of my personality that I had always secretly wished to reveal. I had my color analysis this past week with Rachel and I have to say it was not only informative, but it was fun as well. Rachel clearly knows her stuff and the science behind the theory so well. My daughter went to her and told me that she has saved so much money on clothes and now I can see why. I’m so glad my friend referred me to Rachel to clear it all up because it literally does take specialized training to understand it all.Her scheduling was prompt and the... instructions from what to wear to how to park made me feel at ease.Rachel spent over 4 hours with me not only draping, but explaining how everything works with charts, examples, and tools. It’s clear to me now that color analysis is a marriage of method and art, and not a lot of people can do both. I read the reviews and went in with high expectations. I was expecting to be let down as there was no way my expectations were attainable- I was wrong. Rachel was professional, detailed and patient. After almost 4 hours, I was exhausted- but Rachel persisted and made sure I understood my results. I recently went to Rachel for both a PCA and BLA. I have always been interested in color, however I knew having an analysis in person would be the best way to accurately type---so I sought out someone to do the job. Rachel is initially very gentle, but as the day goes on her personality and subtle humor pops out and makes the entire process very... fascinating and fun.Before the analysis, I had my own theory on my color, assuming I was a muted cool toned girl, perhaps a Summer, since those are the colors I favor and tend to buy.Upon the first swatch flip, I immediately knew that would NOT be the case, as the contrast difference between grey and black made my features pop! It was so interesting, and Rachel definitely emphasizes with great accuracy how the colors interact with you features and the difference, even minute, some colors have on you.To my great surprise I left being typed as a Bright Winter, quite literally the only type I swore I would NOT be. BRIGHT, SATURATED colors? Noooooooooooo, where is my muted grey-toned rainbow... gone. I asked for a comparison just as a last goodbye, between my assigned winter palette and my assumed summer palette, and the difference was alarming. I learned that even though I LOVE a color, doesn't mean I will look good in it, and I think that is the biggest takeaway one can gain from PCA.Since then I've been more open to trying these alarmingly bright colors, and have tried in small ways to incorporate the brights into my wardrobe. I wore fuchsia eyeshadow the next day (unheard of for me), and received so many compliments, even ones not related to my makeup, just overall appearance. Is this magic? Maybe. At the very least it's super curious to see how others react when I wear my "best" colors.I do think Rachel is very skilled and passionate about color analysis and fashion. She has an arsenal of terms and clearly understands the wide breadth of fashion; how one style can manifest positively on one person, and fail on the next.I left feeling confident in my own unique style, and that my newfound knowledge would only help to fine tune my personal style. I actually went into my color combination having a guess as to what my season was but no idea "why". And ultimately that "why" was the biggest value I got out of the color consultation.The session actually starts with Rachel walking through the process of figuring out the season, and then you collaboratively do it together, which gives you a... great first-hand look and practice at how colors change how you look. You then get additional practice afterwards with makeup / color swatches that reinforces what you've just learned.My original guess as to my own season was right, but even if I had been SURE what my season was beforehand I would do it anyways just for the skill building and the "why" behind it. Although the weather was not on our side the day of my appointment Rachel was still able to see me. First off Rachel is amazing she's very knowledgable, friendly and easy to talk to. She answered all my questions and helped me understand the entire personal color analysis concept and how to apply it in everyday life. This appointment was... everything I hoped for and more. It gave me the clarity I wanted/needed when it comes to my wardrobe, hair color, jewelry and makeup especially since I am someone who loves to express myself through those things. After you you are finished with the appointment Rachel provides plenty of resources so you don't have to worry about memorizing everything and gives you a cute travel size palette so you can take it on the go when shopping. I would 100% recommend this especially as a gift to someone and even for anyone getting married since you would be surprised how many shades of white there are.
